A) Muscle therapy is a term that describes using modalities that help to relieve pain and work on a specific muscle groups, such as Frozen Shoulder Impingement, Psoas Release, Tennis Elbow, etc... People tend to assume that Muscle Therapy means a deep tissue massage, and that they will get a full body session, but this is not the case. Bodywork is the application of one or more systematized methods applied to the full body to help restore health and balance, and quicken recovery from daily activities or stress.
2) WHY SHOULD I DRINK WATER AFTER MY SESSION?
A) Water makes up about 65% of your body. In addition to many functions, water also helps the kidneys flush out waste products as well as help in oxygen transport to the cells of the body. Upon receiving bodywork, the lymphatic system has been activated more so, vs the individual's daily activity. During this process, the circulation releases toxins that harbor w/n the interstitial fluid between our cells. The ingestion of water consumption after a bodywork session helps excrete these toxins quicker via the lymph nodes. So H2O is the way to go..
A) A professional bodywork/muscle therapy session is more than an ordinary back rub. Your therapist can find all the of the 'hotspots' that have built up from daily stress and overworked muscles. The goal of a muscle therapy session is to release that tension, work out the adhesions and help your body return to homeostasis, so it can function at an optimal level. All of this work stretches muscles, releases the fascia, delivers fresh blood/nutrients, and smoothes out your muscle fibers. This soreness shouldn't last for more than 2 days.
A) Your frequency depends on why you seek bodywork. If you're a sustained athlete (working out 4-6 days/week), then a weekly bodywork session will aid you in performing at optimum peak. If your general tension is from everyday commutes and computer work, then a rotating bi-weekly session is recommended. OR if you have chronic pain, you may need treatments every week. Your situation will dictate the ideal time between treatments, and your therapist will work with you to determine the best course of action.
A) A 24-hour cancellation is required for your scheduled session, or the FULL COST of the session will be charged. This includes, but not limited to; less than 24 hours cancellation, no-shows and missed appointments.
